Mer-Wees
« on: Friday 12 March 2010, 07:12 pm »
Kebekah emailed me this doll description and image (left):

"Hello, I am inquiring about a doll from the late eighties to more likely the early nineties. This doll is a mermaid with a rainbow streak in her hair and she is around 3 inches. I called her Merwee but I am not sure if this was her name. She has CAP Toys on her back and she came with a purple bath set that stuck to the wall of your bathtub by suction cups. It would really help me greatly to be able to ID this doll since I had so many great times with her."
Thanks a bunch, Rebekah

UPDATE!!!
Thanks to Megan who emailed to confirm this doll is from a line called Mer-Wees, produced in 1997 by Cap Toys.

Thanks to Jennifer who emailed me this Mer-Wees advert with an image of the Rainbow Waterfall and Seashell Doll. This series doesn't seem to have been a big seller as I can't find anything about them on the internet!

I have posted a topic in the For Sale and Wanted section, but I thought it would be worth posting here too. I am desperately looking for these! They were one of my favorite toys when I was little and some of the last toys I remember buying as a child before I got "too old" for toys (ha!).  ;)

If anyone sees them for sale anywhere please let me know! I am interested in the dolls themselves rather than playsets without dolls, which are the only things I have seen come up for sale online.

Thank guys! :)

I have a few of these, so I thought I'd post them in here!  I wasn't sure the boy was one of them but I gather from the other conversation in your wanted post that he is, so I'm including him :)

I don't think either of mine were green--do you have any recollection of what "room" was in the shell? So far we've determined that there was a purple wedding playset, a blue or aqua restaurant/cafe, and the pink bedroom shown.

Well I Had My Aqua Green Bathroom Shell, But Was Just Wondering If They Did A Lime Green Or Any Other Green. If Only There Was A Picture Of The Box, Then Hopefully They Have A Picture Of The Whole Collection

*Sigh* The Memories. Those Rocks Next To The Stairs Are Supposed To Be Seats Rite? I Always Had One Of My Merwees Sitting There While I Played With My Favorite One On Top Of The Rainbow Waterfall And Couch

Yes. I Remember The Tree Is A Lever. You Fill The Top Of The Waterfall And Pull The Lever When A Merwee Is On Top Of The Slide, And There Your Merwee Goes Sliding Down Into The Pool 8D (Doesnt Really Work Since The Tails Material Isnt All That Slippery 8P)

Am I wrong or did the other palm tree lever (missing from zappy's) pump the water up into the top?
