[ID: Fun Car by Tim-Mee Toy] Unidentified Barbie Car
« on: Thursday 17 March 2011, 05:51 am »
I don't think this was made by Mattel but I could be wrong.  This was my ultimate favorite Barbie convertible.

The words I can make out on the box are:

"Fun car"
"___ ___ opens to hold accessories"

Being the total weirdo that I am, when Barbie wasn't looking I'd put my little feet into the passenger seats and sit on the trunk, then proceed to wheel myself around the room with my hands.

...Yeah.   ::)

That's hilarious.

Here is a picture I found of the same car but with white seats. I'm going to go ahead and say that it's definitely not Mattel--For one thing, the Barbie logo is nowhere on the package.

Around what year would this be, do you think?

I'd say this was around 1994 - 1996.  Good point about the Barbie logo.   :P

Ahh I love that car..!!

It's definitely off-brand. I think that Barbie cars have always been modeled after actual cars, and this one looks too cartoony to be a real car (although I don't know cars very well!)

I found that Meritus made some Barbie-sized cars in the 90's and thought I had a good lead, but the packaging isn't right.

Apparently it is the "Fun Car" - Tim Mee Toy  (by Processed Plastic Co.)

No box - I guessing the maker is marked on the car somewhere? And the "Fun Car" is just a guess of the name based off of the license plate. I wonder if the symbol on the front and the back is from whatever line this toy was? It's not the Tim Mee Toy Logo. :)

Perhaps if you contacted the company they could give you more information? :)

OH, the nostalgia! I remember having the blue/pink car most of my childhood. I even remember waiting for my mom to put the stickers on for me. Good memories.

Hey zuse I'm soooo sorry about the months-late reply!
I have emailed the company and I will let you all know what they say ASAP.
I am so excited.. I'd totally buy this thing again in a heartbeat. (only this time I'd keep my happy bum well away from it .....   ;D)

Thank you everyone for helping me out here!

I'm sorry you missed the post when I first found it! There were a few lose ones on eBay but I don't see any (or at least any that are labelled well enough) up at the moment.

They also had a Jeep Cherokee. :-P

But I like your car way better (and the limo, of course!)

Ooh man, if I had the room I'd buy all the varieties.  That shade of pink is so cute with the pearly white.

I'll definitely keep an eye out!
