Is my Chootles a fake or a prototype?
« on: Tuesday 16 August 2016, 06:29 pm »
Hello everyone :)

I am in the process of selling all my toys and I was Id'ing my Chootles when I noticed they were different to what is advertised on here.

The main difference is they dont have a light sensor and instead react to noises ( they light up red and bleep )

Also their label is made by a different company ( please see pic )

Are these propotypes, fakes or possibly other versions?

Any help will be greatly appreciated so I can price them accordingly.

Thank you!

That's very strange! I can't find anything about this version, or any other toys made by Micromark, which seems to be an electrical company.

How long have you had your Chootles? Which country were they purchased?

Those are the smaller ones that were produced.  They had different features from the big ones. And seeing as I believe there were four series made of these darlings, perhaps during one of those years some other company took over like with the Pound Puppies.  Truly, if they are fake, then they are extremely well made cause I don't see it then   :)  But yeah, they were from "animal fair inc" if I recall correct so the only thing I can come up with is that they didn't produce all four lines perhaps?

I live in the UK and they were purchased from a boot sale about 4 years ago. They measure 7 inches in height if that helps.

I cannot find anything about Micromark either. Please feel free to use the information on your site :)

Hey,

so I was talking to someone who owned in her chiildhood all four series and she said that perhaps "Micromark" is the company that is responsible for the light in the Chootle and that perhaps the label of "Animal Fair Inc" has come off.  She suggested to look closely near the label whether you can't see a beginning of another label that had been on too.

I have looked on both of them and unfortunately I cant see any other label. All that's on each side is the stitching for the micromark label. I had the same thought about them being responsible for the lighting and tried a google search but nothing.

Any idea what value they would be?

That's too bad  :(

Value?  They are apparently a bit all over the place.  She saw one last year for not yet 1 GBP (a big one not the smaller ones) and someone also tried to sell a set of a big with a small one for around 50 GBP although she ain't sure that duo got sold.

Perhaps see if WorhPoint has any data on Chootles that have been sold?
