Sweet Scents

Sweet Scents were produced by Toys 'n Things (aka Toy Things) in early 1990's. The company released several sets of scented (and non-scented) dolls from 1991 to 1995, when Strawberry Shortcake was re-issued, and then again in 2000. In fact, the dolls were so similar to SSC that they often get mistaken for them now.

There are also a few as yet unknown TNT dolls, maybe you can help identify them?

Sweet Scents ~ Fruit Scented

There were six fruit scented dolls produced. Each doll came wearing a removable dress, plus either tights or fabric slippers. Watermelon was the only doll to come with leggings. Three dolls were used again in the candy-scented range, with small to large differences.

Sweet Scents ~ Candy Scented

There were six candy scented dolls produced. Each doll came wearing a removable dress, plus tights or fabric slippers. The Mint doll was produced in both black and white versions. Three of the dolls have the same name as the fruit scented dolls (Grape, Strawberry and Watermelon). Watermelon was virtually the same, but had different coloured slippers and eyes. Strawberry was very different from her fruit scented version, with red hair, stripped dress and also the only doll in the entire range to come with plastic shoes (perhaps a second run with shoes this time, as I've also seen loose images of several of these dolls in the same shoes).

There were also at least two 7 inch poseable dolls produced too, with a sweet scent.

Other Releases

At least four dolls were sold in simple unbranded boxes together with three outfits through a premium-and-promotions type catalogue, perhaps as end of line clearance or even as start of line promotions. Of the doll I have images for, two of the outfits included were the same as her fruit-scented and candy-scented releases, plus one new outfit I haven't seen used anywhere else yet.

Sweet Scents ~ Flower Scented

I suspect these four dolls were released around 2000 just before the Dream Girl line came out, as the packaging used the same font the "Dream Girl ~ Sweet Scents" line did.
