My Rainbow Brite collection (well, the best stuff anyway)
« on: Friday 09 March 2012, 11:56 pm »
I collect from a smattering of different 80s doll lines (Strawberry Shortcake, Rose Petal, Shimmers, Lady LovelyLocks) I guess I am most proud of my Rainbow Brite collection since I was so freakishly lucky to get a bunch of prototypes.   http://www.wix.com/galacticatt/rainbow

I have some cool Shimmers prototypes too, and a few other things (while box dolls/color tests/concept art ect) that are less exciting.  I have been meaning to photograph everything (or take better photos of the stuff I have) but have just been too lazy.

One doll that I have never seen any unproduced lines or prototypes for is Lady Lovelylocks.  Does anyone have prototypes or concept art from that line or have you heard of anyone having anything?  Mattel is definitely more crazy about letting their designs prototypes get out than Kenner, but I have to think that someone has something somewhere!

I don't have any information on Lady Lovelylocks, sorry.

But your Rainbow Brite collection I've seen around the boards.. it's really quite jaw dropping!  Thanks for sharing with us here at GOTD.   :)  My eyes get big when I look at Stormy... <3!!

The smaller girl lines like Lady Lovelylocks are wickedly hard to get info on, because the people that might have this stuff probably don't even value it...

Still, you never know what may pop up if you ask everywhere and everyone...

I just found a recent small color rendering I did for Lady Lovely Locks castle, if you are interested, I can scan or photograph it and send it to you. (I was a designer at Mattel in the mid '80s, and designed for Rainbow Brite, LL, My Child, & Popples.)

I'm moving Friday, so if I don't hear from you, this will have to wait for a very long time because I'm leaving all my artwork in storage.
