Reminiscing Over My Childhood Toys...
« on: Saturday 13 November 2010, 08:07 pm »
Flickr or FlickrRiver

(I can't figure out how to custom arrange the order anyway other than dates taken or uploaded which don't work well for me...)

Over the years I've been saving photos of my childhood toys when I encounter them on eBay, Amazon.com, etc. While I've managed to hold onto a fair number of my childhood toys, I still enjoy seeing what they looked like when I first got them for my birthday or Christmas or whenever. Mom was good about donating outgrown and used items on a regular basis but she did have soft spot about Barbies so that's what I still have the most of. Come to think of it, that was the toy I received and played with the most as well.

Back when I was still at the age I played with my dolls (15+ years ago) one whole bag of my Barbie accessories and clothing went missing! I'm fairly certain it accidentally went out as trash... it hasn't been found to this day. Unfortunately, when it went missing I had stored everything haphazardly between several containers so I have a lot of outfits where half the set is missing. (But I still have all the dolls).

So I've been uploading some of these pictures to Flickr to share and for myself to look at when I need a nostalgia fix! Feel free to take a look. The pictures aren't of MY items... they just represent toys I had. I might also add some actual childhood photographs at some point. :)

For now I've just uploaded a good amount of my Barbie stuff and other toys I used when playing Barbies!

The toys are currently all stored under a bed and in a closet in one of the guest bedrooms at my parents' place. :)

I've been saving photos of toys I had for years now too!  Just a few weeks ago I copied some from their organized folders into a folder just for that.  I was also a bit of a Barbie girl.  ::) I do the exact same thing and look through them from time to time.

I really enjoyed looking at yours!  We had lots of the same dolls: Happy Meal Stacie, Jasmine, Babysitter Skipper, and Gymnast Barbie.  I'm glad you still have most of yours, I don't.   :'(

I was not allowed to play with Barbie as a kid, which doesn't make much sense but my mom hated them! When I went to my dad's house I got to play with them though. I think collecting MIB pics is a great thing to do. Thanks for sharing your flickr page!

Are you going to continue to upload more?

I've added a few more. There's still a wedding dress that I can't find a pic of MIB. It's got the Barbie tag. From the lists I could find it *might* be #2718.

The pink box toys don't get enough love. I've never understood why people would pay hundreds for those gawdy Barbies. :P

Yeah, I've wasted my whole day trying to remember all of my childhood toys. ;) I had a few of the same Barbies that you had, so I may just steal some of your pictures. :P

It's not wasting time, it's 'research'

I just add them as a I remember them. And as Wishbook's new uploads remind me of other items. :)

It's funny how just an image of an old toy can bring back old smells and memories.

d'you mean like when you uploaded them it didn't do some of them? If so you can just do them again. Photobucket can be pretty crappy about uploading so you have to keep track of what is uploaded on there and then select all the ones it missed out and try and again (and do the same thing until you've got what you want uploaded)
