My thrifting adventures :P
« on: Monday 31 May 2010, 09:58 pm »
Alright, this could be fun!  I'm gonna try and remember to post here with the highlights of my constant thrifting excursions.

Got bunches of stuff to sell at a flea market yesterday, a lot of G2 petshop and a bucket full of Barbie stuff.  Personal triumphs though:

- a Playskool dollhouse baseball player (off my want list, huzzah!)
- Tons of She Ra dolls with accessories, mostly common (except for their condition), but also... a Mexican Angella!  She has the dark blue jewel, hair highlights, and differently constructed pants that mark her as a foreign variant.  Woo hooo!

Ok, this time (for the only time probably, this was work!), an example of my typical haul.  This is for selling and keeping, and spans two days of thrifting.  This is a solid example of why I have... a lot.

Personal highlights include:

- My Size Barbie- never had one before, and I think she's pretty cool!
- Tuggles cat- Tuggles are stalking me right now, but I dig it.
- Barbie Rollerblade Kira top (now just need her shorts and skates and fanny pack to complete my series!)
- Barbie Sun Jewel Kira swim suit (another clothes piece I needed)
- Several Kens I needed (I have been IDing mine lately, so the Ken hunt is on)
- A Barbie Mulan horse and Barbie horse I didn't have yet
- Some modern Care Bear baits for a project I am working on (plus DG baby ponies)
- Madame Alexander dolls from the 50s (I will probably keep both for now, even though I would usually just keep the 9 incher, because the market is hard to read right now)

Obviously tons of sell stuff, but highlights:
- Pocket Dragon plush
- Merwee male
- Tons of Sweet Streets houses on the cheap

This wasn't even the weekend :D  Have a clearance goodwill store by you?  That's the way to go.  I get most stuff for $1.50 a pound.  I find it is better in some cities than others though in regards to quality of stuff.

The last town I lived in had a clearance goodwill. That's were I figured you had to get all that stuff. :-D

It was amazing. I got to where I'd go every day after work. They thought I was a freak. But I was raking it in on eBay!
Check out my Vintage Littlest Pet Shop Guide!

Hey, check out Bing Rewards. I've earned several $5 Amazon gift cards using it. :)

It's a bit of a drive for me to get to the really good store, or I'd be there all the time.  Kind of a good thing it's not near me.  Waaaay too addictive.

Intermittent reinforcement, all the way.

But the selling on ebay is fantastic, I agree.  Can't beat it, plus I get to keep way too many things!

My tips for finding the best stuff is go to the smaller thift stores. Not the major ones like Goodwill and Value Village. The smaller places tend to have better stuff due to being not as well known.

Wow! Such fun pictures! If you do decide to post your hauls again, I'm sure I'm not the only one who would enjoy it. Merwee!? Lemme know when you sell him!

I definitely will Batty :)  When I saw him, I was like, "Woo hoo!" and then "... Uh oh."  :D

Now there is the pressure of dealing with him knowing how many people here are hunting Merwees.  I figure ebay is the fairest.

He's not in great shape or anything, but I'm still so glad I was able to rescue him.
