Wuzzles :: Plush

"Have you snuzzled a Wuzzle today?"

Wuzzles were produced by Disney and Hasbro in 1985. Each character was a mixture of two animals, and all had wings. They started off as an American animated television series and were soon produced as poseable figures and plush toys (similar to Care Bears), books, puzzles and an abundance of other items.

Plush

Plush Wuzzles were produced in three different sizes - 12 inches and 8 inches, plus one large 25" Bumblelion. The first edition of large plush Wuzzles had a little plastic"W" on their bottoms. When they were re-released with the Wuzzle Cousins they no longer had it, but looked just the same otherwise. Wuzzle Cousins were only made in one size. Each character came with its own story book.

These are the story books which came with each large plush Wuzzle. I don't know if the smaller ones came with anything.

There were six plush Wuzzle Cousins produced. Unlike the original Wuzzles, they were only produced in the larger size.

Baby Wuzzles

There were six 9 inch Baby Wuzzles produced/advertised in 1987, just as the Wuzzles line was discontinued. It seems that had a very small production run in UK/Europe only, so are very hard to find today.

Online information (via a chap called Cliff) states there were only ever 15 Baby Wuzzles made (as UK prototypes) and were given to the families of the investors (not sold in shops). He also states there was a seventh Baby Wuzzle called "Woxee", the twin brother of Foxee. Woxee wasn't featured in the Hasbro catalogue, and there seem to be more than 15 Baby Wuzzles floating around the world today so I'm not too sure that this information is entirely correct but thought it worth a mention!

  • Chipadillo [Chipmonk / Armadillo]
  • Foxee [Fox / Zebra]
  • Kittypen [Kitten / Penguin]
  • Moofly [Cow / Butterfly]
  • Peepsqueak [Mouse / Bird]
  • Pupling [Puppy / Duck]

These images are from the French 1987 Hasbro catalogue, so the toys were definitly set to be released in the shops even if they only made one or two stores.
