We made a special trip to Pound Wood in Daws Heath at the weekend to find fungus, and were not disappointed! The ground was carpeted with horse chestnuts and the trees were raining acorns.
A day trip to Colchester included the ruins of St Botolph’s Priory, the Castle Museum, Hollytrees Museum and a walk along the river (then pub!).

Today we followed along the Prittle Brook in Belfairs Park, which runs east along the edge of the golf course from the Woodland Park entrance to the Eastwood Road exit. The water trickles as a natural stream for several meters, then becomes a managed brick-lined waterway, which continues to Southend Airport before entering the River Crouch.
On Sunday we decided to take a look around Thundersley Glen, followed by an unexpected turn around Coombe Woods, and finally a look around St Peter’s Church graveyard.
It was a bit of a miserable morning on Saturday, but brightened up by the wonderful scarlet poppies blooming at the top of the steps leading down to the train station.

The cherry tree on the corner of my road has just come into full blossom.

Last October, the Mr & I visited Colchester for the day. We started off wondering around the ruins of St Botolph’s Priory, then visited the Castle and museum, followed by lunch and a wonder around the town.
I took my camera for a walk into Old Leigh back in October. It was so sunny I couldn’t see the screen on my camera to see what I taking most of the time! Luckily they came out well.
The farmer was at work in the Salvation Army fields in Hadleigh as I was heading to the bus stop, so I took a few photos.
