Kitty Surprise

"Guess how many! It's a surprise! How many girls! How many boys!"

Puppy Surprise etc. were produced by Hasbro in 1991-1993. Each set comprised of a plush mother animal measuring about 12 inches long and a number of soft babies which were about 4 inches long. They had plastic faces and came in a variety of colours. The number of babies included varied and each one was different. The mothers came with a name tag around their necks, which also came in a variety of colours. Later on, the babies were sold on their own in many guises.

"Special surprise outfit for your baby kitty!  Your surprise outfit comes in a special gift-wrapped box. If you don't want the same outfit, choose a different coloured box with each kitty you get!. Girl baby kitties wear pink ribbons, boy baby kittes have blue ribbons."

Dress Up Kitties (aka Baby Kitties) were sold separately and came with one of six surprise outfits and a sleeping bag (which came in three colours). Outfits included were: Tropical, Fiesta, Groom, Doctor, Cheerleader and Nurse, which came inside little boxes - each colour of box was matched with a particular outfit. Baby Puppies were also sold like this. Later, the baby kitties were re-marketed as "My Tiny Kitty Surprise". "Baby Kitties" outfit gift-boxes had text on, but later versions sold as "Dress Up Kitties" gift-boxes only had "?".

Sleep 'n Surprise Kitties

"Each Sleep 'n Surprise baby kitty comes with its own accessory (bottle, pacifier or teether), as well as a surprise toy - open the box and see! What will it be? Is it a beddy-bye bear, kitty or puppy! If you don't want to get the same toy, choose a different coloured box with each kitty you get!"

These kitties were sold separately, wore glow-in-the-dark pajama's and came with either a rattle, dummy or bottle which could fit into their mouths. They also came with a surprise toy hidden inside a box. Baby Puppies were also sold like this.

Playful Hair Kitties

"Growing hair surprise for your baby kitty! These snuggly soft kitties have extra long fluffy hair to cuddle and play with! Comb the silky hair and make it grow - pull on the tail to make it short again!"

Ponies and puppies were also sold like this, and were three varieties in each set. The combs were the same mould as the MLP flower picks (not cat combs as pictured on their boxes). They have a similar look from the front as Hasbro's Sweetie Kitties.

Puppies were also sold like this.

Pet Surprise

There were at least two medium sized kitties produced which could meeow/purr, sold on their own under the name "Pet Surprise". Puppies were also produced in this size.
