My Family Tree

I have been researching my family tree and extended lines for many years now, originally tracing back several generations on all four grandparents lines (my maternal grandparents, paternal grandmother, and my paternal grandfather who adopted my father and aunt after marrying my grandma when they were still little). Then, back in 2016, I took a DNA test to further my research and bring to light my biological paternal grandfather and his tree. I had great success with the DNA test and found a whole new branch to my tree as well as new family members. Essentially, I have five grandparents!

More information can be found on each branch in the “about” pages to the right, plus family groups for each ancestor as listed underneath. I also write blog posts from time to time when I do a good bit of research!

Paternal Grandfather’s Line: BARNES

This side of my family hail from USA and Canada, then back into England, Scotland and Ireland. There may also be German origins somewhere further back.

Paternal Grandfather’s Line: HICKS (via adoption)

This side of my family hail from Middlesex, Norfolk and Suffolk, with Hertfordshire just starting to creep in.

Paternal Grandmother’s Line: SMY

This side of my family nearly all hail from Norfolk, with a sprinkling of Wiltshire, Somerset and Surrey just creeping in at the bottom.
