To the right is a menu containing each of my direct BARNES relatives, and below a tree starting from my paternal grandfather, Lyle BARNES, back to my 4th Great Grandparents. I only discovered the identity of by biological paternal grandfather after taking a DNA test in 2016.
This side of my family hail from USA and Canada, then back into England, Scotland and Ireland. There may also be German origins somewhere further back from Christian BARNES or Margaret ELTON/PARNELL.
My 2GGP John Duncan BARNES and Sarah BARNES were 1st cousins, so my ancestors double up two generations back from then on the Barnes line.
The WHITE and MITCHELL lines both need further research, but I simply haven’t found enough evidence online as yet.
All my known 4th Great Grandparents below are proven via DNA links from at least one other child within each family. In the BARNES/ELTON (aka Parnell) case, I have confirmed DNA matches from nearly all the other children they had. I also have a circle of unknown DNA matches on the Barnes side, all 4th cousin range and back. Many of them are related to a VANNATTER/HAGAR family line tracing back several generations in West Virginia (with German origins) and nothing to to with the Barnes side at all.
